Any day of the week in the local parks, I can find groups of older women performing traditional Chinese dance. Most of these traditional dances involve synchronized movements and something held in the hand and waved about. In Anyang, a popular form of traditional dance involves drums harnessed to the waists of the dancers. This type of performance seems more like a theatrical march than a form of dance. In this photo, the woman in front is the leader of the troupe. She directs the line of women behind her. The oldest of citizens, those too old to even march theatrically, often sit nearby and watch the performances.
