More video from Bangkok’s Dusit Zoo. It was hot as hell that day, and both children and parents sought relief in the fountains. I survived by repeatedly ducking into the air conditioned 7-11 located within the zoo. “Oh Thank heaven for 7-11” is perhaps most true in Thailand. There are approximately 6,800 7-11 stores in Thailand. Given the size of Thailand, this means that there is practically a 7-11 on every corner.
Located on the grounds of Dusit Zoo is a decent sized lake of greenish water. While hanging out by this lake to snap pictures and people watch, a monitor lizard of at least two meters length casually swam by. The size of the lizard was large enough that even the Thais took notice of it, pointing to it in surprise. You just never know when wildlife will make an appearance in Thailand.
Dusit zoo offered elephant shows two to three times a day in a small arena. Due to reasons of timing, I wasn’t able to attend one of these shows. But I did catch some of the trainers rehearsing with the elephants just before entering the arena. I wondered what the trainers had to do to the elephants to get them to do their tricks.
